How to Sell Wooden Boards Online: Photos, Descriptions and Keywords

In a store, a wooden board sells itself the moment a customer picks it up. Online, your photos and text have to do that job. Here is what a product page needs.

1. Six photos that replace touch

  • The whole board on a plain light background
  • A close-up of the grain
  • The edge, to show the thickness
  • The board in a hand or next to a knife and a loaf, for scale
  • The board in use, with food
  • Details: handle, juice groove, feet, engraving, packaging

Photograph two or three boards of the same model and say that colour and grain vary. This prevents most “it looks different” complaints.

2. Make size and weight easy to imagine
Give length, width and thickness in centimetres and the weight in kilograms. Add a comparison: “a little larger than an A4 sheet” or “holds a whole loaf”.

3. Write the title as a formula
Product type, wood, size and one feature: “End-Grain Cutting Board, Oak, 40 × 30 × 4 cm”. This is how customers search and how they compare.

4. Structure the description

  • First sentence: what the board is for and for whom
  • Short list: wood species and origin, construction, size and weight, finish
  • Care in one line: hand wash only, oil about once a month
  • A short paragraph about who makes it and how

5. Use the words customers type
Typical searches are “oak cutting board”, “end-grain cutting board”, “large wooden chopping board”, “cheese serving board” and “personalised cutting board”. Use the main term in the title, the first sentence, the page address and the image description. Once in each place is enough.

6. Answer questions before they are asked
A short FAQ on the page: can it go in the dishwasher, how to oil it, does every board look the same, how is it packed, how do returns work.

7. Show real use
Ask buyers for reviews and photos from their kitchens. A board that has been in use for a year is the best proof of quality.

8. Offer the next step
Show care oil and matching boards on the same page, and offer a set at one price.
