In-Store Events That Sell: Tastings, Knife Days and Board Care Workshops
Share
An event gives people a reason to visit your store and time to handle the products. Wooden boards suit this well, because they are made to be used, not just looked at.
1. Tasting evening
Invite a local cheese shop, winery or bakery. The food is served on your boards, and guests see the product in real use. Both businesses share the costs and the guests.
2. Knife day
Offer sharpening while customers wait, by your own staff or an invited sharpener. Show what dulls knives and which boards protect them.
3. Board care workshop
Customers bring an old wooden board. You show how to sand it lightly and oil it, and they do it themselves. Care oil sells itself afterwards, and many guests leave with a second board.
4. Cooking or carving demo
A local cook prepares a simple dish in the store. Keep it short, around 30 minutes, with a tasting at the end.
5. Preparation checklist
- Set the date three to four weeks ahead
- Limit the places and ask for registration
- Consider a small fee that is credited against a purchase that evening
- Prepare an offer valid on the day
- Brief the staff on who presents what
- Put the featured products near the event area, with prices
6. Spread the word
A poster in the window, a post on social media, an email to your customers and an invitation through your partner’s channels.
7. Use the content
Take photos and short videos, with the guests’ permission. One evening gives you material for weeks.
8. Measure the result
Count the guests, the sales on the day and the new newsletter sign-ups given with consent. Compare formats and repeat the one that works.
